Culture Days update — Everyone can participate

Subject: Culture Days update — Everyone can participate

Culture Days – be involved — September 28, 29 and 30, 2012

Pass this along to everyone and anyone who might want to be part of the Lakeshore Culture Crawl!

And remember to upload your events onto the Culture Days website –- If we all use Lakeshore in our marketing somehow this might help people find our events on this national site!

I know that the library is offering free space to artists – I will get this call out tomorrow or early next week – can you be the point person on this? How should it work? I will send you a draft of the call unless you want to write it and just have me blast it out to the community.

Thanks again for being involved, this has the potential to be a lot of fun and garner lots of positive media for the area, a mini-  festival!!

Best, Susan

PS – the site has tons of templates from poster layouts, press releases etc. you might want to check it out to save time developing a template when one already exists. Have a great summer and I will touch base again sometime in mid-July to make sure everyone is on track.

Culture Days is a collaborative coast-to-coast-to-coast volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.

With the support of a National Steering Committee and volunteer Provincial and Territorial Task Forces, thousands of activity organizers self-mobilize at the grassroots level to present and coordinate free public activities that take place throughout the country over the last weekend of September each year.

The third annual Culture Days weekend will take place September 28, 29 and 30, 2012, and will feature thousands of free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate “behind-the-scenes,” to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, designers and other creative people in their communities.

With thousands of activities registered at culturedays.ca, and with the support of media partners like the CBC, Globe and Mail and St. Joseph Communications (Canadian Family, Where, Fashion and Toronto Life magazines), Culture Days drives a multi-level national communications and public relations campaign designed to inspire and catalyze greater public participation in the arts and cultural life of our communities.

A variety of free, useful Tips and Tools are available to support activity organizers throughout the process of planning, promoting and executing their Culture Days activities.

Culture Days is a collaborative movement that welcomes your participation. Everyone can play a role in Culture Days: as an arts or cultural organization, community group, artist, municipality, library, school, citizen, or business person, you can participate in and contribute to the Culture Days movement! http://culturedays.ca/en/about-culture-days
