SORE nominated for cultural heritage landscape award

SORE is very pleased to report that ‎it has been nominated for the prestigious Margaret and Nicholas Hill Cultural Landscape Award by Architectural Conservancy Ontario. The ACO nomination announcement can be viewed at

The award recognizes an individual or group that has endeavoured to preserve or raise awareness of and appreciation for a significant Cultural Heritage Landscape as defined by the Ontario Heritage Trust. It was named to honour the Hills, who contributed extensively to the ACO for decades. Nicholas Hill was a pioneer in heritage conservation district planning in Canada.

The recipient of the award will be announced on October 14. ‎We will advise on the outcome then.

SORE’s (and the Town’s) efforts with respect to the iconic Rand Estate are clearly being followed and applauded by ‎the heritage community provincially and beyond. We are grateful to you the community, as well as our dedicated elected Council, for your ongoing support.
