Can you help find photos or documents regarding the singer Gino Vannelli from Montreal who attended St Rita’s and Pius X?
I have recently received as email asking for help regarding a research project which a site visitor named Maria is involved with; her message reads:
I am researching the singer Gino Vannelli from Montreal who attended St Rita’s and Pius X.
I am wondering if you would have photos, documents, etc.
In a subsequent message Maria refers to a blog post about a visit of an Ahuntsic elementary school to the Montreal Star and Gazette newspapers in 1962.
The post in question is entitled:
Among the photos at the latter post is one that depicts a visit in 1962 by a class at Ahuntsic School to the offices of The Montreal Star. The photo is from a reading enrichment program for the Grade 7 class taught by Mrs Harris. The students visited The Montreal Star and then made a mock up of a newspaper.
Please contact me at jpill@preservedstories.com is you are able to help Maria find photos or documents regarding the singer Gino Vannelli from Montreal who attended St Rita’s and Pius X.

An initial comment:
She can check put St Ritas and Pius X, they have FB Groups. I also checked out Dan’s grad year book 1965 and it mentions the group from the east end of Montreal called the Cobras and I know that Gino was part of that group.
I’ve also learned that a Pius X alumni Facebook page features a picture of Gino playing the drums; that is where he first started before singing.
Also: All those nights in Montreal with Gino Vannelli; the following link has good information:

He appeased about around the 25 mins in the program.
Another comment:
Looking at his bio, he would have graduated in 68 or 69 and was suppose to attended McGill but went to NY City
And:
If you do a search on Gino Vanelli on the public [Facebook] group site Montreal Then and Now, you will see many posts and pictures on him. I hope this is what you are looking for.
