The speaker at our March 20, 2012 LBHS meeting will be Hon. Colonel Gerald Haddon, grandson of John A.D. McCurdy, Canada’s first aviator.
There’s a plaque in Mississauga not far from Long Branch which has details about McCurdy’s role in local history.
Election: At the March 20 meeting, we’ll also have another election to choose a new president of the society. We have two candidates in the running, to replace Barry Kemp, who is retiring after 12 years in the position. The election on January 17, 2012 ended in a tie. A second election was held. That ended in a tie as well.
