Both 28 Ninth Street and 26 Ninth Street have had additions built on the backs of the houses. Adrian deRooy has noted that the owners of 26 Ninth Street took care to ensure that the roof of the addition was built in such a way that 28 Ninth Street still gets plenty of light on the south side of the building.
