Mimico 20/20 Draft Secondary Plan –Have Your Say!

After years of consultations, studies and meetings, the Mimico 20/20 project will debut at Etobicoke York Community Council on April 9th. Over the past months I have endeavoured to meet with the myriad of residents groups, business owners, property owners and other stakeholders to gather feedback on the proposed Secondary Plan.

Over the next several days, if you have not done so already, I would urge you to take a look at the Mimico 20/20 Draft Secondary Plan and corresponding documentation on the 20/20 website:

http://www.toronto.ca/planning/mimico2020.htm

What do you like and what do you not? What, from your perspective, did City Planning staff get right and what, if anything, seems strange? Are there any details you do not understand and would like clarified before settling on a position? What would you change if you could?

It is possible that the plan, as it stands, will not be the perfect outcome for all involved. The unique nature of the challenges and opportunities present in the Mimico area make that very difficult. The challenge remains in balancing the competing interests in a way that spurs revitalization and best takes advantage of the great potential Mimico has to offer.

The evening of April 9 at 7 p.m. at the Etobicoke Civic Centre will provide the last opportunity to make a deputation before the secondary plan is voted on by City Council. If you can attend the meeting and would still like to submit your comments on record please email them to etcc@toronto.ca.

Sincerely,

Mark Grimes
