Announcing Parks44
Toronto Park People is proud to launch our campaign for activated parks in every corner of Toronto. Parks44 aims to bring better parks to all 44 of Toronto’s wards by way of local neighbourhood parks groups whom envision and create better public spaces for their communities.
Park People is the catalyst for better parks. Toronto’s parks are not as good as they should be and we know that when residents get involved, parks get better. Even with 80+ groups across the city, 24 Toronto wards, primarily located in the former municipalities of Etobicoke, North York & Scarborough do not have a local park group. This is despite the fact that a majority of Toronto’s parkland is located in these regions.
Parks 44 will aim to bring community ownership of activated parks to all 44 wards by 2015.
We’d like to thank the Metcalf Foundation & Live Green Toronto for providing funding for our Parks44 campaign.
