Dear Friends,

While the outcome of the June 7th election was not the one which I had hoped for, it has been an honour and a privilege to serve as your Member of Provincial Parliament for the last four years and as a City Councillor for seventeen years prior to that. I accept the verdict of the voters with humility. The Ontario Liberal Party will now have to rebuild its foundations and trust with the people.

It is indeed a rare honour to be able to serve one’s neighbours as an elected representative, even rarer to also be able to serve as a member of Ontario’s Executive Council in the role of Minister of Housing.

Over the last four years as your MPP I was able to deliver on many important issues to our community. Significant Planning reform and the elimination of the Ontario Municipal Board, giving Toronto more final say over local planning matters, and giving municipalities Inclusionary Zoning powers to create more affordable housing. Advancing significant projects to improve public transit in Etobicoke Lakeshore, such as the start of construction of the Kipling Mobility Hub, advancing the new Parklawn GO station, and securing Provincial & Federal funding for the Waterfront LRT and the Downtown Relief Line subway. I’m also very proud of my advocacy to secure funding for the renewal of our local schools; Norseman, Castlebar, Holy Trinity, St Leo, and Holy Angels. That is a tremendous amount of positive and tangible results in a single term at Queen’s Park.

The work we did together to improve our community while I was on City Council I have discussed before, however the revitalization of our Etobicoke City Centre is now in full swing with the massive construction works now ongoing in the Six Points area. The opportunity to transform a neighbourhood or City is a once in a lifetime exercise and I am very pleased with the progress that is now being made in accordance with the Vision we established working together.

As one door closes others open and I am very excited about the opportunities that are ahead for me. I am not yet certain as to what specific road I will follow in the coming years but in one way or another I will continue to be engaged in shaping our and other communities.

You can reach me at mimicopete7@gmail.com. Thank you for all your support and encouragement over the years.

Faithfully yours,

Peter Milczyn

Whatever you do in future, Peter, you have my vote! It’s been a pleasure and an honour to work with you in organizing Jane’s Walks in our local communities, and in many other valuable projects.
