Judson Street and ML Ready Mix Public Meeting
Date: Wednesday, February 6, 2013
Time: 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Location: Trident Banquet Hall and Conference Centre, 145 Evans Avenue
Etobicoke M8Z 5X8 in the Main Banquet Room, located upon entrance of the Main doors.
Residents concerned with the ML Ready Mix Cement batching plant on Judson are invited to attend – please submit questions and issues in advance of the meeting to info@mimicoresidents.ca. This meeting with City staff is being facilitated by Councillor Grimes’ office with the help of the MRA (as one of MRA’s quarterly Public Meetings).
The MRA has also written a letter to the Ministry of the Environment requesting that ML Ready Mix be denied an Environmental License.

Response from MPP Laurel Broten re ML Ready Mix
MPP Broten has responded in writing to our concerns about ML Ready Mix.
Excerpt: “The ministry’s role is to ensure that if the city permits an operation to occur at a given location that the operation complies with all requirements under the ministry’s jurisdiction – zoning is not within the ministry’s jurisdiction.”

Mimico 20/20 Update, Vote & Important MRA Survey coming this week
We are at a critical point in the Mimico 20/20 planning process. The Mimico Residents Association (MRA) would like your input to help us formalize our official position on the current version of the Mimico 20/20 Revitalization Plan. Etobicoke York Community Council will vote on the Plan as early as February 26, 2013. The MRA is interested in knowing how YOU would vote if you were a councillor.
The Survey will be available within the week – watch your email inbox, the MRA Facebook page and the MimicoResidents.ca website to fill out the survey and have your say! Meanwhile, you can review the emerging Plan on the City of Toronto website’s Mimico 20/20 page.
[Mr. Christie’s development application withdrawn]
According to a recent Update from Councillor Milczyn: “Mondelez officially withdrew their “Concept Plan” for the Christie site at 2150 Lake Shore Boulevard West, which was previously submitted to City Planning Staff on November 1st, 2012. That report recommended a residential development to replace the Christie Plant with 27 Condominium towers.”

The MRA is seeking applicants to the our Board of Directors. If you are interested in working with us, please submit a short bio including your areas of interest and expertise to info@mimicoresidents.ca. Please submit applications before March 1st. Applicants will be interviewed and vetted before the Annual General Meeting.

Toronto Casino Consultations this month
From City of Toronto Website: City Council’s Executive Committee has requested the City Manager to seek the public’s input on the establishment of a casino in Toronto. The City Manager has engaged the firm DPRA to conduct the consultation with the public and stakeholders by the end of January 2013.

Section 37 and Affordable Housing – Special Public Meeting
Date: February 28th, 2013
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location: 2nd Floor, Committee room 1, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. West, Toronto
Amendments to Official Plan policies are proposed in order to: 1) explicitly authorize affordable ownership housing as an eligible Section 37 community benefit; and 2) permit condominium-registered rental units owned by a non-profit housing provider to be considered as an eligible Section 37 community benefit.
