Kathleen Wynne Liberals Create Minimum Wage Panel

(ETOBICOKE) – Today, the Kathleen Wynne Liberals appointed an advisory panel to look at the future of minimum wage in Ontario. The new government wants to take a balanced approach and help Ontarians by ensuring that there is a fair minimum wage while also providing predictability for business.

“Kathleen Wynne and her team are committed to helping all Ontarians in their everyday lives and I believe the province is better and stronger when everyone has the opportunity to be employed at a fair wage,” said Peter Milczyn. “I am proud to be running on the Liberal party’s record of minimum wage increases. After the PC party froze the minimum wage and never increased it once, the Liberal Party increased the minimum wage by 50 per cent since 2003, to $10.25 an hour, one of the highest rates in Canada.”

The panel will consult broadly across the province with business and labour groups, workers, anti-poverty advocates and academics. The panel will provide advice on a process to set the minimum wage going forward.
