Long Branch Neighbourhood Association Launch – Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 at Humber College L-Building, 7:00 pm

I have attended three meetings in the past year chaired by Brian Liberty of Long Branch, which have had the purpose of laying the ground work for the launch of a neighbourhood group in Long Branch.

The meetings, of an informal planning group made up of Long Branch residents, have convinced us that there is a strong interest in the starting up of such a neighbourhood association, to better represent the interests of the residents of our community.

We have noted that there is strong enthusiasm for the launch of such a group.

A public meeting, which you as a Long Branch resident are cordially invited to attend, which will be chaired by Brian Liberty, will take place on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015. 

Location: Humber College L-Building, 19 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, Room L1017. That’s the building that is behind the Tim Hortons just a ways south of the corner of Kipling Ave. and Lake Shore Blvd. West.

Time: 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm.

The meeting will be brief. Our focus will be on the next steps in the launch of the association. This is NOT a meeting where the focus is on the venting of our feelings about the challenges that Long Branch faces as a community. We have a good sense of what the problems are, that we face; our focus at the meeting will be on how we can work together, as an association, starting at once, to find solutions to the immediate challenges that we see on our horizon.

Purpose: The purpose of the meeting is to launch the association, tentatively named the Long Branch Neighbourhood Association. In particular, we have an interest in finding other Long Branch residents, who would have an interest in participating in the extensive volunteer work that will be involved, in getting this group up and running, as quickly as we can.

We seek to foster the development of an association in which all members feel a strong sense of ownership – of the group itself, and of the decision-making that is involved in the operation of the group, for the benefit of all of the residents of Long Branch.
