Message from LEAF — Please sign up online to become an volunteer EAB (Emerald Ash Borer) Ambassador.

Dear LEAF Volunteers,

We are calling on every single LEAF volunteer to help rewrite the story of how Emerald Ash Borer will affect our city.

This invasive insect is threatening 860,000 ash trees and we’re asking people to spend an hour or more of their time to become an EAB Ambassadors and help educate your neighbours about options they have to help save their trees and strengthen our urban forest for the future.

Over 60% of our urban forest is privately owned so it is up to us to take responsibility for it. Now is not the time to lose hope, it’s the time to get active.

Please sign up online to become an volunteer EAB Ambassador. You can do this on your own time and with a few friends. The sign up link will further inform you of the actions we’re asking you to take on. There are various levels of commitment so you can get as involved as your time will allow.

Also, if your free this Saturday we’d like to invite you to our Ambassador launch and training event. Here you’ll receive in-depth training on the ways you can help and get all the resources you need to start:

EAB Ambassador Training – Register Now
Saturday, June 16th, 2012
10am – 2pm (bring lunch)
Palmerston Library Theater (downstairs), 560 Pamerston Ave, Toronto, M6G2P7

We really hope you’ll join us in taking on this important Call to Action. This is probably the most important volunteer opportunity you can help us with this year.

I’ve recently shared my story on why too am volunteering to personally become an EAB Ambassador. Read it here and learn how LEAF is bringing people together: “…there is more to this story, and it includes optimism, the power of community, and you.”

Leslieville Tree Festival

Also the Leslieville Tree Festival is taking place on June 24th from 12-4 pm. I will need approximately 15 volunteer to help out with this fun filled family event. If your interested let me know and I’ll email you more information.
