Quiz question on Humber Bay Shores (Peter Riedel)
Update
A July 7, 2016 post is entitled:
[End of update]
Greetings,
Can anyone name one other area along the northern shoreline of Lake Ontario waterfront that is to be as dense with condo development as Humber Bay Shores?
The issue isn’t development, it’s the quality of development. It isn’t about putting up as many buildings as possible by the lake, but about building a respectful and attractive community by the water. The shore of Lake Ontario is a beautiful environment worth preserving. Surely it deserves development that is sympathetic with that setting.
Not even the waterfront of downtown Toronto has the density and heights found along this 1.5 kilometre stretch of shoreline in south Etobicoke. And it isn’t finished! There is more development to come.
Can anyone name a similar location?
Anyone?
Thank you,
Peter Riedel
PS Please keep in mind the impact this has on bird migration and shadow effect on the shoreline. i.e. Eau du Soleil 66 and 44 story’s – 60 m from the shoreline
In a subsequent email, Peter Riedel has added this comment:
“Please note that the high tower on Eau du Soleil is a 66 not 62 storey as was mentioned at the meeting. Their website lists 66 storey.”
He has also added that Shadow effect studies were only mentioned up to 3 PM at the meeting.
“Sunsets and late afternoon do not count it seems,” commented Peter Riedel in a recent email.
