Recent MRA Survey Results

The MRA has released a Report of our Mimico 20/20 Survey findings from November 2012.

View the Survey Report on our website. This Report has been submitted to City Planning staff and to Councillor Grimes.

Judson Street and ML Ready Mix Update

The MRA Executive recently met with Mark Grimes and discussed a possible meeting with relevant government parties, residents and representatives from ML Ready Mix to seek solutions to the pollution, noise and traffic affecting residents around the plant. The MRA will support the Councillor in facilitating this meeting as soon as possible in the New Year – if not January then early February.

The MRA has also written a letter to the Ministry of the Environment requesting that ML Ready Mix be denied an Environmental License. Read the letter.

Section 37

The MRA also discussed Section 37 funding with Councillor Grimes.  There are several current and future projects that Section 37 money has been set aside for (see February 2012 Summary here). The MRA would like to hear your comments on the following: If given the opportunity for city improvements, what would you like to see improved in Mimico? Please email your suggestions toinfo@mimicoresidents.ca.

Ontario Municipal Board Concerns – Response from MPP Laurel Broten

MPP Laurel Broten has responded to MRA’s letter of concern regarding the OMB’s granting of heights and densities well beyond the wishes of residents and exceeding provisions of City Planning. Read Minister Broten’s letter.

Hillside and George All-Way Stop Sign Update

The MRA has inquired about the status of the approved All-Way Stop sign at Hillside and George, and when we can expect installation. The Councillors office has reported a disconnect between City Staff resulting in a longer than usual wait. We can expect installation of the Stop Signs in 6 – 8 weeks.

Kudos to BIA

The MRA would like officially commend and thank the BIA for their recent events at Mimico Square, particularly the Pumpkin Parade and the Tree Lighting, both of which were very successful and well attended!
