Russ Ford plans festive campaign kickoff in south Etobicoke on April 24

It’s time for a celebration in Ward 6! Finally, a candidate with stature and experience is stepping up to lead and manage the growth of south Etobicoke.

Russ Ford, Executive Director of LAMP Community Health Centre, one of the area’s largest and most respected social agencies, will launch his campaign for the Ward 6 city council seat with a party at Storefront Humber on Thursday, April 24th, from 6 PM to 8 PM. Refreshments and entertainment are planned.

Russ says the aim of this event is to introduce campaign themes and generate excitement amongst his supporters. He also hopes to raise money for what is expected to be a tough campaign leading up to the October 27 municipal election.

“Events like this are a wonderful opportunity to get to know people who will be working on the campaign, to meet new supporters and to engage with interested citizens. It will be a lot of fun,” promises Russ.

“This campaign is all about experience, leadership, and accountability,” Ford says. “Thanks to the incumbent’s indifference, the Lakeshore has become a forgotten part of Toronto. People in Ward 6 feel neglected. I want to put Ward 6 back on the map. I want people to know that when they elect me as their councillor I will be there for them, I will be responsive to their concerns about issues large and small, and when I’m at city council, I will be there to make sure that this part of the city is neglected no longer.”

Storefront Humber is located at 2445 Lakeshore Boulevard West, near Mimico Avenue. The Russ Ford campaign kickoff event on April 24th from 6 PM to 8 PM is free of charge and open to the public. Media are welcome.
