The following message is from Brian Bailey of CCFEW:
The process of reviewing the Humber Bay Parks Master Plan was initiated at a public meeting on February 16th. There are many important things to consider in the master plan, but discussion at the meeting was dominated by the pavilion: a 12,000 square foot, $7 million dollar facility planned for Humber Bay Park East.
An online petition has been created opposing the pavilion: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/823/779/107/stop-the-pavilion-project-at-humber-bay-park-east/
Councillor Grimes has apparently heard a lot of negative reaction to the pavilion, and has stated, “If the community does not want a new facility built in Humber Bay Park East, I will cancel the project.” So, it’s not dead yet, but it’s not a done deal either.
You can find out more about the Humber Bay Parks Master Plan, including presentation materials and comment forms at www.toronto.ca/humberbayparks.
The comment period ends on March 8th.
CCFEW has not yet submitted a formal set of comments and recommendations.
