In a previous post, I’ve referred to an art exhibit, dealing with local history, which claims that the Long Branch Aerodrome was located at a particular site in Long Branch. I noted that it would be possible that the factual error would be corrected, by the time that a typical visitor to the Preserved Stories website were to visit the art exhibit.
As of Sept. 18, 2017, however, no correction, of the error, has been made.
This brings to mind a situation, endearing in its own way, I would say, regarding local history in South Etobicoke. In some circumstances, where the facts end and urban legend begins is not easy to discern. This is among the delightful features of local history. Erroneous information is free to flourish, when the opportunities arise.
