City of Toronto presents Chief Planner Roundtable summary at launch of outreach initiative
Toronto’s City Planning Division today issued the first Chief Planner Roundtable summary document. The summary document was revealed at the launch of the outreach initiative called Planners in Public Spaces.
The Chief Planner Roundtable is a public forum that facilitates discussion on key city-building issues. The first series of roundtable discussions took place this spring, and covered three topics: Our Urban Fabric, the Resilient City and Next Generation Suburbs. The document summarizes the discussion, outlines current successes and challenges Toronto faces on each topic, and lays out a plan of action to move forward.
“The roundtables have become a venue for stimulating discussion and encouraging collaboration to address important city building issues facing Toronto,” said Jennifer Keesmaat, Toronto’s Chief Planner. “This document is the first in what will become an ongoing series, produced twice a year, following each group of roundtables.”
The Chief Planner Roundtable summary is available at Planners in Public Spaces events or at local City Planning offices. The next Chief Planner Roundtable events will take place this fall on September 30, October 28 and November 25.
Residents can learn more about the Chief Planner Roundtables by visiting Planners in Public Spaces pop-up booths at events and locations across the city over the next month. The booths will be at farmers markets, public squares, street festivals and special events. Event locations and other City Planning information are available here.
The Chief Planner Roundtable series and the Planners in Public Spaces pop-ups are examples of how the City Planning Division is striving to strengthen engagement and communication with residents of Toronto.
