MCHS ’60s Reunion Group has been created on Facebook

We owe thanks to Klaas Vander Baaren (MCHS ’64) for setting up an MCHS ’60s Reunion Group on Facebook.

This will serve as a great resource for spreading the word about the MCHS Sixties Reunion, which will take place in Toronto on October 17, 2015.

What’s a Facebook event page? What’s a Facebook group?

Photo of Mr Hanna, posted by Klaas Vander Baaren on June 16, 2014 at MCHS '60s Reunion Facebook Group. I believe there may have been an article about Mr Hanna in Macleans magazine in the 1960s. As I recall (and my recollections are subject to error), he had worked as a government official in Egypt. I would add that the 1960s version of Macleans was different, in its format, style of writing, and editorial frame of reference, from the current version of the magazine.

Mr. Alleslev. The photo, which shows a wall calendar dated February 1964, is from the MCHS '60s Reunion Facebook Group. For a closer look at the calendar, click on the image to enlarge it. Click again to enlarge it further. We know the calendar is from February 1964 because February 1 in 1964 was on a Saturday, and that's the information that's available on the calendar in the photo.

Daniele Rossi, who’s not an MCHS grad but with whom I’ve done a lot of communications-related volunteer work over the years – and who introduced me to Twitter some time back, and who introduced the MCHS reunion organizers to Google Sheets – has shared with me the following information:

“Group = forum

“Event page = email invite

“If it’s an event, it shows up on people’s news feeds.”
